As terrifying as the two recent attempts on Donald Trump’s life are, unfortunately, they are not uncommon in US presidential history. Fifteen other current or former Presidents of the States have had failed assassination attempts, with many of them being subject to multiple attempts too.
And the second assassination attempt of the former US President prior the 2024 general election has had absolutely no tangible impact on polling averages. Support for Democrat candidate Kamala Harris continues to grow, while Trump’s is falling steadily.
According to polling averages on 538 Polls, on Sept. 14 – the day before the second attempt, 48% of people had voted for Harris and 45.4% for Trump. Four days later, statistics on Sept. 18 indicate that Harris’s share increased to 48.5%, while Trump’s decreased to 45.2%, following the same trend since the presidential debate on Sept. 10.
