2024 US Presidential Election Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump survived yet another apparent assassination attempt just weeks before November 5th! Most importantly, no one got injured and the alleged shooter was caught by police.
Here are the rest of the key facts:
WHEN did Trump’s second assassination attempt occur?
The saga started after lunch on Sunday Sept. 15, at around 1.30 p.m. Eastern Time (GMT-4). However, phone records indicate that Trump’s shooter might had been in position up to 12 hours prior to that.
WHERE did it all start and end?
The failed assassination attempt took place at the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida. The gunman then fled the scene by car, a Nissan SUV with stolen number plates. And 38 miles (61km) north from the golf course, on the I-95 highway, he was caught by police and taken into custody.
WHO is the suspect shooter?
Ryan Wesley Routh of Hawaii, aged 58, is an extremist with a significant criminal record and an active supporter of Ukraine with no military experience. He was spotted holding an AK-47-style rifle, hiding in the bushes, while Trump was playing golf. The gunman didn’t get a chance to shoot at the former president, but was shot at by a secret service agent.
Mr. Routh appeared in federal court on two charges on Monday Sept. 16 and he’s facing up to 20 years in prison, if found guilty.
